Klaxon album / currently one available track
Klaxon album art

This album was recorded live at IMMEDIA at the University of Michigan in 2002. During the performance, a fire alarm went off. Attendees didn't initially believe the event staff saying "no, really, this is an actual fire alarm" - they thought it was part of the performance. Eventually we got them to go. (The fire alarm turned out to have been caused by another artist shorting a 9V battery across the keys in their pocket and setting their pants on fire. I do not currently have the other tracks from the recording, but am trying to recover them from old friends.

Notes

The 01V pieces were produced using a Yamaha 01V mixer. Typically, each piece was initiated by tapping or snapping into a microphone; the microphone input was shut off once the audio reached self-sustain. During performance, the two independent FX units inside of the 01V were configured so that each fed its output to the others’ input, creating a feedback loop. By varying the parameters of the individual effects and allowing the audio to recurse through the units, different audio was achieved.

The 01V State and William remix used audio recorded at the corner of State St and William St in Ann Arbor as an initiator/reusable audio input. The basic configuration of recursing through FX units was maintained.

The Joshua Landau works were just me screwing around with Ableton and similar things in college.
